Joint call planned for bioenergy demonstrator projects

Bioenergy Sustaining the Future 2 (BESTF2)

You may already have seen articles and events highlighting this opportunity for fudning for demonstrator scale bioenergy projects. The call is expected to launch this month [December 2013].

Looking to encourage the ‘commercialisation of bioenergy projects and increase renewable energy production across the EU’, a consortium of European funding agencies including: TSB, DECC and BBSRC, and supported by the European Commission, the competition is looking to fund public-private projects that de-risk bioenergy technologies at demonstration scale to encourage further private exploitation. The BESTF2 is a follow up from an early joint call that closed in March of this year [2013] and recommended three projects for funding with a total project cost of €33m

The competition is expected to open in December 2013 and will close in March 2014 with first projects commencing from January 2015. Dates are provisional at present - more information will be made available when the call is launched at
