Facilities

The NEC offers a range of facilities from catering outlets to lost property. The Edina cafe will be stituated in the middle of the exhibition hall offering hot and cold drinks and cold snacks.

The venue also now offers free wifi for visitors throughout most of the venue.

NEC sustainability

The NEC welcomes around two million visitors and over 500 events every year and proudly embraces progressive advances towards sustainability for the industry. The NEC’s own waste management facility opened in 2009 and zero waste to landfill was achieved two years ahead of schedule. 

The NEC now sends its food waste to the newly opened Severn Trent Green Power Coleshill plant, to which we are offering a site visit on 30 June. You can find out more about the site in Severn Trent's press release.

Travel

The NEC is located 8 miles east of Birmingham city centre and is very well connected. Click on the below headings for information on travelling to the venue by your preferred mode of transport.

By car

Depending on where you are travelling from, you can use one of the following motorways to get to the NEC: M1, M5, M6, M6 toll, M40, M42.

The NEC has 16,500 parking spaces available. Follow the electronic signage or directions provided by the traffic team to get you to the right car park. Once you have parked you can either take a free shuttle bus or walk to the halls using the signposted footpaths. Parking costs £12 per day.

By train

The NEC is located next to Birmingham International train station. The NEC entrance is on the right hand side as you exit the station and is clearly signposted. 

Many services run directly to Birmingham International, but if yours doesn’t, you can catch a connecting train at Birmingham New Street.

By bus and coach

National Express and Megabus run over 120 daily services from across the UK to Birmingham Airport, from which you can take the free air-rail link to the NEC. The link leaves the airport from the upper level of Terminal 1, and operates daily between 05:15 and 02:00.

Regular local buses depart from Birmingham City Centre. The 900 service runs every 15 minutes and takes around 30 minutes and the 97 service operates every 30 minutes and takes around 45 minutes.

Local bus services also run every 30 minutes throughout the day to Solihull (service 966) and Coventry (service 900).

By plane

The NEC is located very close to Birmingham Airport (BHX) from which you can take the free air-rail link to the NEC. The link leaves the airport from the upper level of Terminal 1, and operates daily between 05:15 and 02:00.

East Midlands Airport (EMA) is located around 40 miles from the NEC.
